Basic Management Certificate Courses
For maximum impact, take all four units and earn your Basic Management certificate. We encourage participants to take Unit 1 first. However, the four units may be taken in any order.
Three-day courses
- Unit 1: Leading and Working With People
- Unit 2: Mastering Supervisory Skills
- Unit 3: Improving Managerial Effectiveness
- Unit 4: Improving Communication Skills
Five-day paired courses
- Units 1 and 2: Leadership and Supervisory Skills
- Units 3 and 4: Communication and Managerial Effectiveness
Take all four units to complete your Basic Management Certificate. You can attend four three-day courses, two five-day courses, or a combination of these. Be careful not to duplicate topic areas.
Who should attend
This program is ideal for first-level managers, supervisors, team leaders or anyone interested in building strong management principles.
Experienced supervisors who want to broaden their leadership knowledge and strengthen specific skills can benefit from the Basic Management series.
High-potential employees soon to be promoted to management are also encouraged to attend. These participants have a much easier transition from peer to manager using the techniques learned in these courses.
Managers with five or more years of supervisory experience are encouraged to consider our Mid-Management Development certificate series. Managers are not required to complete Basic Management courses before taking the Mid-Management Development courses.

Since July 1998, we have surveyed 3,500 first-line supervisors and team leaders taking courses in the Basic Management certificate series. We have found:
- 99% of all participants said that the program met or exceeded their expectations
