Marilyn Holt-Smith
"It can be a very 'dog eat dog' environment in the business world. The pressure to strive to be the best, to be at the top of our game, is motivating but it can also be relentless.   PeerSpectives offers a welcome respite from that type of environment. We celebrate the successes or offer hope and encouragement when things don't turn out as planned.   We learn from each other's mistakes because those mistakes are shared in an open, respectful and confidential way.  The depth of knowledge and experiences within our group is amazing.  My  PeerSpectives group helps me be a better business competitor." Marilyn Holt-Smith, president, Holt-Smith Advisors, Inc.

The Wisconsin PeerSpectives Network forms peer groups that are composed of eight to 12 non-competing business owners who gather for confidential sharing of experiences and challenges approximately 10 times over a 12-month period. The peer-to-peer exchanges enhance the decision-making processes, critical for owners who want to grow their already established companies.

tom schwei In PeerSpectives group, I learn not only from my own issues but from other’s issues as well.  It turns out that, regardless of the business or industry, many problems and concerns are the same and we all need help from peers in solving them.  For the Peerspectives group, all members understand the guidelines and follow them, which results in strong contributions at every monthly meeting." Tom Schwei, DNASTAR, Inc.

Each PeerSpectives roundtable is led by a facilitator trained by the Edward Lowe Foundation, a non-profit organization committed to providing assistance to business owners seeking rapid growth for their established businesses.

PeerSpectives roundtables provide a valuable opportunity for owners, CEOs and presidents to tap into the collective wisdom of their peers on topics such as finance, employee relations, legal compliance, marketing and advertising, accessing new markets, production, and personal isolation. The group members are committed to confidentiality, sharing, accountability, and dispassionate analysis.

laura strong "PeerSpectives has been a great experience, sharing with and learning from other people in businesses that are similar in stage but completely different in almost every other way." Laura Strong, Quintessence Biosciences, Inc.

Who can participate?
Wisconsin PeerSpectives Network is most effective for qualified owners, CEOs, and presidents of growth-oriented Second-Stage™ companies. In general, a company is Second-Stage if it is:

  • privately held
  • past the start-up stage
  • facing issues of growth rather than survival
  • transitioning from an entrepreneurial to a professional management style
  • generating between $750,000 and $50 million in annual revenue or has that range of working capital in place

Ed Linville

“The beauty of this gathering is that you are equals in the sense that no matter what business you are in, we all have some of the same challenges and can share solutions. It is a perfect blending of entrepreneur and executive thinking.  As independent business owners, we have to think executively and holistically, “Not just how to administrate the business, but how our decisions impact everyone else.”
Ed Linville, Linville Architects

ken lambrecht "The challenges of expanding and the relocation of my veterinary clinic and the opening of 4 Paws Swim & Fitness was nurtured, supported and critiqued by my PeerSpectives group. Their perspectives were invaluable in that process.  I would describe them as very professional and cutting edge with regard to facilitation and content." Ken Lambrecht, Westside Family Pet Clinic
